JUStr34, I read about it in more than one bio of Bird, it was also in the film "Bird". The sax player really did throw his sax into the river after hearing Bird play. I feel the same way after hearing Art Tatum, except I can't throw my piano into the river becauase it's too heavy.

Can´t understand in all my life how is posible to play that way...this man makes me ill...it´s not human, just two bars of his music are imposible; if I could play half minute of his playin´, I would be a master...all over those changes, playin´ so natural...makes me ill

@nicodagger I'm sure they were surprised when Parker started making sense. Because the truth is that when they laughed him off the stage he wasn't following the chords. He didn't start out blowing like this. That experience was important for Parker. He forced himself to practice harder and when it came together it changed jazz.

You all know that they are "lip-syncing" this to the recording right? If you don't notice his breathing, or the fact that the kit doesn't even have a ride symbol . . . He still played it on the recording though, and wow, what a musician's musician
